WHO WALKS THROUGH OUR DOORS?
Listening House serves individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, deep poverty, and social isolation—often during moments when other systems and resources are difficult to access. Our guests include people who are unsheltered, staying in shelters, couch-hopping, living in encampments, or navigating unstable housing while trying to maintain employment, relationships, health, and personal safety.
Many are also living with chronic physical or mental health conditions, trauma, substance use disorders, or barriers to stable housing and work. Others come seeking a warm meal, a safe place to rest, access to resources, meaningful connection, or simply the dignity of being seen, heard, and welcomed without judgment.
Homelessness is complex and deeply systemic, shaped by intersecting factors like poverty, health, trauma, and the shortage of affordable housing. It is rarely the result of a single circumstance, and it requires sustained, compassionate responses that meet people where they are. At Listening House, we are grateful to be part of that work on the ground—walking alongside our community in real time. The people we serve deserve dignity, stability, and care, and we remain committed to showing up consistently in support of that reality.
